Analog Planet to Participate in WAX Event at the Capitol Tower
The event will be hosted by Capitol Studios and Mastering, Capitol Records, Caroline and Harvest Records. On hand will be collectors of rare records, independent record stores, artists both established and developing for an event the promoters are calling "the largest record fair Los Angeles has seen in years".
Of course a wide selection of vinyl records will be on sale. Vendors will also offer rare music merchandise, artwork, and collectibles. There will also be artist autograph sessions, DJ sets and performances as yet unspecified.
Capitol Studios and Mastering will award a vinyl-cutting demo and a winner will get to experience the mastering process and take home a hand-cut lacquer. Capitol says the vinyl resurgence has resulted in two lathes working full time.
Also at the event will be panel discussions including one I've been asked to moderate, the subject of which will be the sound of vinyl. Participants so far will include Bernie Grundman and Chris Bellman of Bernie Grundman Mastering and Blue Note Records President Don Was.
Vendor registration is now open and tickets for the public are now on sale for the family-friendly event.
Capitol Records is located at the historic intersection of Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood, CA, conveniently situated just south of the US 101 freeway and just north of the Hollywood/Vine Metro station.

Back in the 80's there used to be a monthly record swap meet across the street from the Capitol record tower in the parking lot for what was then the Palace theater. Just wondering if it will be worth the admission since LA has several swap meets (Pasadena and OC) already.
but... can capitol cut all analog vinyl?
Hey it doesn't say what the times are, or who and what times the talks will be. When is Bernie Grundman giving a talk do you know ?
Michael posted about the event today, said the mastering panelists are on at 4pm on saturday. I hope someone does a video for YouTube!
