Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT Turntable

Affordable turntables are always a good thing in our book, especially if they help usher audiophile newbies into the fold. That’s one of the main reasons why we’re going to take a look at Audio-Technica’s AT-LP70XBT fully automatic wireless belt-drive turntable today.

Bluetooth-enabled for simple connection to powered speakers and headphones, the AT-LP70XBT table is compatible with the Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio codec, in addition to being equally optimized for more traditional speaker connections via the included 1m RCA cable, along with its built-in switchable phono preamp.

The AT-LP70XBT has a die-cast aluminum platter, and it offers 33⅓ and 45rpm playback speeds automatically at the press of a button. The table’s three-piece anti-resonance chassis comes with a removable hinged dust cover, and there are three finish options — black silver, white silver, and black bronze (the latter of which is seen above, quite literally).

The AT-LP70XBT table’s J-shaped tonearm features an integrated Audio-Technica AT-VM95C dual moving magnet (MM) cartridge that sports a 0.6mil conical stylus. The stylus can be upgraded with any other styli in Audio-Technica’s VM95 series —. elliptical, micro linear, or Shibata.

you say "the stylus can be upgraded with any other styli in Audio-Technica’s VM95 series —. elliptical, micro linear, or Shibata" if you read Herb Reichert in Stereophile on the '95 series he thinks the C may be the pick of the range, I love mine.

That's really inexpensive.

It appears to have a suspended sub chassis, good but why isn't that touted in the advertizing? The cartridge is not replaceable, bad. I use a VM95C on my Dual. When will someone do a shoot out of inexpensive turntables? Personally, I like the classic looks of the Electrohome Montrose turntable ($100), a division of Fluance.
