Florida International Audio Expo 2025 Is Officially Underway!
Ok, let’s see here — current weather in Tampa, Florida: 65 degrees, and sunny. Current weather in certain pockets of the East Coast: 23 degrees, with a chance of flurries. Hmm, where would you rather be? Looks like Tampa may win that bet, not just in terms of the weather, but also because the Florida International Audio Expo — a.k.a. FLAX — has officially gotten underway there today, February 21, 2025, and runs through Sunday, February 23, 2025.
As alluded earlier this week in our reports about some of the cool new gear that will be on display at the show — such as the DS Audio TB-100 tube phono EQ and Clearaudio Unity tonearm (shown above) — AP is also onsite at FLAX, and our team is checking out everything analog-centric you’d wanna know about firsthand.
In fact, our main product reviewer and all-around jazz hound Ken Micallef checked in with me from FLAX earlier today by noting, quote, “So far, I’ve shot video of an Audio Note turntable plus other gear from Metaxas & Sins, VPI, and J.Sikora.” (I swear I’m not jealous. I swear I’m not jealous. . . .)
As soon as Ken gets done with all his FLAX filming, reporting, and posting (he’s also doing double duty for our sister site, Stereophile), we will post his video content both here on AP and on our YouTube channel — and probably on Instagram as well.
In addition to Ken’s gear sleuthing, our ace show report guru Julie Mullins is also on the case at FLAX, visiting room after room and seeing/listening to systems galore. She will be submitting around eight (or so) show installments, so be on the lookout for those too, coming soon.
In the meantime, why don’t you do what I’m doing right now by pulling some great LPs from your shelves, and enjoy the weekend ahead with lotsa vinyl listening. Happy spinning, everyone!
