This album is fantastic and I was amazed to see Analog Productions touch an album this far afield of the usual suspects. "Taking The Midnight Train" is as haunting and moving as music gets. I take it as a glimmer of hope that we'll start seeing high-quality reissues of more interesting albums like this. Now if only they could pay as much attention to the packaging as they do to the sound quality, I'd be in heaven. Sadly, the jacket looks like it was scanned from a 5" CD cover — a blurry mess with plenty of moire patterning and jpeg artifacts, printed on flimsy stock.
I know we're all here for the sound, but that's no excuse for crapping out on something that is still a significant part of the vinyl experience. It's too easy to do it right to forgive them for doing it wrong.
