AP Exclusive Video: Record Store Day Preview With Zev Feldman at All Blues Listening Bar

Manhattan’s All Blues played host to Zev Feldman’s traveling Record Store Day (RSD) cavalcade this past Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Joined by jazz journalist, Jazz and Coffee’s Syd Schwartz, Feldman gave the backstories and played selections from his upcoming RSD 2025 releases. These six RSD releases followed Feldman’s typical Jazz Detective approach, mining tapes from radio stations, performance venues, and collector’s vaults, pressed to virgin vinyl.

These six LPs — which will be made available on RSD this upcoming Saturday, April 12, 2025 — include Charles Mingus’ In Argentina: The Buenos Aires Concerts, Kenny Dorham’s Blue Bossa in The Bronx: Live From The Blue Morocco, Freddie Hubbard’s On Fire: Live From The Blue Morocco, Wes Montgomery & Wynton Kelly Trio’s Smokin’ in Seattle Live From the Penthouse, Bill Evans’ Further Ahead: Live in Finland 1964-1969, and Patsy Cline’s Imagine That: The Lost Recordings (1954-1963).

[Spoiler alert: We will be reviewing a trio of these fine releases together later this week on AP, just ahead of RSD—AP Ed. MM]

The icing on the cake was hearing selections from these LPs on All Blues’ elaborate vintage system, which includes two EMT 930 turntables, Denon DL-103 cartridges, separate rows of Marantz and McIntosh amplification, and three pairs of speakers including JBL 4343Ds, JBL Hartsfields, and a JBL D44000 Paragon.
