Someone asked (above) if it has been established of what resolution the digital files used for the masters was.  A poster on Steve Hoffman Music Forums e-mailed Abbey Road Studios and they replied that the original analog master tapes were copied at 24-bit 192kHz and that the LPs were made from 24-bit 96kHz files.  Your mileage may vary ...

.....at least as good as the Parlophone/EMI Boxed set I bought in the early 80s.  First four actually 2 channel and not Capitol MONO.  I did a direct AB between the vinyl and the CDs when they came out a few years ago and I gave the vinyl the win.

I have put my request in for Santa to bring me one of these.
