Tomorrow I head for North Carolina for two in store appearances at Audio Advice in Raleigh-Durham tomorrow evening and in Charlotte on Thursday evening.
Then it's off to Los Angeles for the weekend. Saturday night is the 30th Anniversary party for the Disney Sci-Fi cult classic "TRON." I supervised the soundtrack, which was nominated for two Academy Awards for best sound. We lost to "E.T."
There's going to be a screening of a 70MM 6 track AAA print at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood before which I'll take part in a panel discussion. It should be fun!
But of course all of this traveling means less new content posted to Analogplanet. I hope you understand. However, I have a review of SME's new 20/3 just about finished and a lot more equipment introductions to post from Rocky Mountain Audio Fest as well as many great photos taken at Quality Record Pressings.
If I land with sufficient time before tomorrow night's event I will get as much of it posted as possible. Meanwhile, once home next week, I'll be busy with record reviews and I have heard from my EMI contact and next week will get the poop on The Beatles reissues from mastering engineer Sean Magee!

I really enjoy your passion for vinyl records and playback. Your continued education given and editorial opinions shared are geat for any hi-fi buff and music listener. Doing so without being a jerk is another pleasure I get from your writings. This is the best job in the whole world, I envy you! Besides the fact that you get to work, you actually travel and explore new places each time between festivals, without spending extra money! I hope someday I'll do the same, but untill then I'll just stick to the usual family vacations!
It was definitely a great fun trip for you, we all love to travel more or less, while Planning a Vacation if we keep our passion in mind then we could have an enjoyable trip.

Before dropping $350 on the Beatles vinyl reissue, I would really like to get your take on the sound/pressing quality. Of course I'm interested in learning about what resolution the digital files were that were used, but am frankly more interested in what they actually sound like in your opinion.
I don't get hung up on the digital source per se (the digital fix that Music Matters did at the beginning of Song for My Father was transparent as far as I could tell). The final result is what matters.

of those Doors "LA Woman" pressings do you own brother? It looks like several red albums under the one visible over your shoulder. Please understand, I am not being critical, I just may need this information next time my wife counts the Beatles records I have!

It was a pleasure to meet you and to hear your presentation at Audio Advice. Sometimes when you meet your "heros", it's a disappointing affair, but I must say you were extremely friendly, down to earth, and intelligent, so abosolutely no disappointment with you. It was a thrill to see your infectious enthusiasm for vinyl and music. Your carrying of the LP thorch is awesome and inspiring, and I wish there were more people like you out there in the media, especially the mainstream media. It's kind of amazing, the impact that you have been able to achieve on vinyl reproduction and turntables/arms/cartridges, and doing it pretty much by yourself. Three cheers!!! Keep up the good work, and I hope our paths will cross again someday.

Can't thank you enough for all your work particularly over the past decade with vinyl reviews. Looking forward to hearing more news regarding the 2012 Beatles LP box set (and perhaps news about the 2013 Spring Beatles Mono LP Box set, if that's indeed on track).
Would love to see a channel here for owners to post their reference components and to get feedback from the community - particularly any others who have similar rigs. It could generate some interesting perspectives... :-)

I see in the photo, 2 Doors lps on different shelves. How do you catagorize your lps? It doesnt appear to be alphabetical?
