I did not buy the box set, but several individual albums, all of which carry the DSD logo. These new clear disks do not. I compared the black individual release of Beggars Banquette that I purchased last year- 2012 with the clear reissue and found their sound tilted up. The transients are emphased over the body. I prefer the black. Since their is no DSD label and no source is described, I can only say that it's apparently different and sounds different. To me it sounds like body was removed rather than high frequency detail added. The DSD labeled has as much high frequency info.but sounds more integrated, smoother. I think the missing DSD coupled with the clear vinyl confuses things unnecessarily. I mean if the DSD label were there then I'd have to assume that this new " clarity " was a result of lack of iron in the record.
Im still confused about whether the ABKCO set was converted directly from DSD to lacquer or not. I asked Micheal last year if he could find out if the individual albums were the same as those found in the set, but no one from ABKCO responded to his inquiry.
