I have one of these and it is / has everything mentioned here.
As also mentioned in passing, unlike other stereo cartridges, it does not read records directly from the 45° slant of the grooves but instead has one up-and-down mono signal (L + R) and one side to side difference signal (L -R). Then (L+R) + (L - R) = 2L and (L + R) - (L - R) = 2R.
Problem is, all these connections are made inside the cartridge, which may be the cause for signal level mismatches, hum problems, etc.
I have often wondered — but am yet to try — if one were to amplify the (L + R) and (L - R) separately first, then do the addition / subtraction at, say, line level, how things would work out? Channel balance and separation could then be more accurately set.
Decca / London’s original set up was, I reckon, meant for plug-and-play ease but in today’s vinyl world of anything from strain-gauge to optical pick-ups with their specialty preamps, that may not be as much of a consideration. It also would give you a pure mono pick-up as a bonus.
