Gold Note T-5 Turntable

Still thinking about getting a new turntable for the holidays? The noted Italian manufacturer Gold Note may have just what you need.

The Gold Note T-5 is a compact ’table that features a 15mm thick platter made of ultra-clear glass, which is said to “provide the right density and structure to extract fine details from the groove while minimizing noise.” The platter is matched with an inverted, chromed steel 5mm ball bearing to “increase the stability of the platter while also ensuring frictionless rotation.”

The T-5’s plinth is 23mm thick and made of HDF, and it is further refined by removing material in “strategic points” — i.e., around the motor, the bearing, and the edges — to create a shape intended to “minimize resonance by breaking the transmission pattern of vibrations,” according to Gold Note.

Available with an elegant black lacquer finish, adjustable feet, and a removable transparent acrylic dust cover, the T-5 ’table also comes equipped with Gold Note’s own B-5.2 tonearm, and is said to be upgradable to their high-precision B-5.1 arm.

Specs for the T-5 turntable include wow & flutter of 0.3%, rumble of –72dB, 33 1/3rpm and 45rpm playback speeds (±0.1%), manual groove-on-pulley speed changing, 12V synchronous motor, 12V AC (100-120V – 60Hz, 220-240V – 50Hz) power supply, power consumption of 3W (max), dimensions of 425 x 140 x 360mm (w/h/d), and weight of 7.5kg (net), or 12.5kg (boxed).

Finally, the SRP for the Gold Note T-5 turntable is $999. You know, I think we need to add this cool new ’table to our upcoming product review list, don’t you?
