On This Week’s Episode of Vinyl Obsession, Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go’s & Country Vocalist Brantley Gilbert Select Their Top 5 LPs
Who's making their Top 5 picks on this week's episode of AXS TV's Vinyl Obsession? Glad you asked. This Sunday evening, May 14, Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go's and country vocalist Brantley Gilbert bring us along during their respective shopping trips at Grimey's in Nashville as they both search for their Top 5 LPs. Here are a pair of AP-exclusive sneak previews. First, Valentine shows us her love of jazz, and finds a few LPs that put her band on the map.
Next, Gilbert shows us his love of vintage soul, in addition to a country legend he's toured with and admired for years.
If you've read my interview with Vinyl Obsession's executive producer and VP of programming Katie Daryl that posted here three weeks ago on AP, you already know that it airs on Sunday nights at 8:30 p.m. EST on AXS TV, and that the half-hour show follows a pair of musicians and/or rock-adjacent celebs shopping for their five favorite albums at Grimey’s in Nashville. Artists ranging from Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top to Lzzy Hale of Halestorm to guitar master Joe Bonamassa have all appeared in the first six episodes that have aired to date. This Sunday's show is Episode 7, and there are 8 episodes total set to air for Season 1.
Because the response to Vinyl Obsession has been so overwhelmingly positive, AXS TV has created a weekly vinyl newsletter to accompany it. To see the latest edition of that newsletter, go here, where you'll find a nice writeup of my recent interview with Yes guitar icon Steve Howe toward the end of it. To sign up for the newsletter, go here.
We will be bringing you more Vinyl Obsession coverage in the weeks ahead, so stay tuned!

Gilbert was better than I expected, although I'm not a fan of his music at all. His speaking voice sure is gruff! Valentine was smart, charming and informative. BTW, I really enjoyed her autobiography "All I Ever Wanted", the inside look at the Go Go's was quite revealing and she's had an interesting life.
