Connected Fidelity TT Hub Turntable

Sierra Sound has just announced they are the official U.S. distributor for Connected Fidelity products, including the British company’s flagship TT Hub turntable, along with their Float isolation pucks. Today, we’re going to focus on that eye-catching TT Hub table, which first made (sound)waves when it officially launched last year at the Bristol HiFi Show 2023.

Constructed from resonantly stable bamboo ply, the TT Hub turntable is compatible with a wide range of different tonearms (which we’ll discuss further in just a bit). Connected Fidelity head honcho Michael Osborn is said to have chosen bamboo as the “ideal” material for such a design, because it is “economical, attractive, and has excellent sonic characteristics.”

Available in both dark stained and clear lacquer finish — both options of which we’ll be showing throughout this story — the plinth of the TT Hub table consists of multiple layers of the aforementioned bamboo ply in a mechanically isolated constrained-layer construction. The non-suspended TT Hub includes its own bespoke isolation base, which is also made of precision-crafted bamboo, with top isolation components and silicon damping feet. Height-adjustable brass spikes serve as the “main” feet.

A 16 x 75mm long, self-lubricating bronze sintered main-bearing design utilizes a PEEK (that’s an acronym for, deep breath, “polyetheretherketone”) base component, a special plastic the company says was chosen for its “very low friction characteristic,” on which a sapphire thrust bearing sits, all of it housed within a thick wall aluminum body.

The solid, 30mm (1.25in) thick acrylic platter of the TT Hub has a foamed top damping layer bonded to the top face to absorb and isolate the LP from any extraneous vibrational energy. The table features a sophisticated outboard speed controller/power supply unit controlled by a quartz clock to ensure constant and steady speed. This feeds a high-precision AC synchronous motor, housed in a heavy-duty aluminum case. The result is speed accuracy said to be within 0.003%, “even with fluctuations from the main supply.”

As alluded to earlier, the TT Hub can be configured for either one or two tonearms. Standard armboards, made from solid anodized aluminum, are compatible with Sorane, Rega, and Linn tonearms. The TT Hub is supplied with Sorane tonearm and Hana cartridge options for the UK Market, but custom armboards can be drilled for a wide range of tonearms from other manufacturers in 9in, 10in, and 12in lengths. (U.S. consumers should contact Sierra Sound directly for more information about arm and cart options via the link at the end of this post.)

Dimensions for the TT Hub are 21.25 x 7 x 15.5in (w/h/d), and its weight (sans arm) is 24lb. Dimensions for the power supply are 6.25 x 3.25 x 13.75in (w/h/d, including the knobs), and its weight is 6.5lb. The length of the power cable is 77in.

Finally, according to Sierra Sound, the SRP for the Connected Fidelity TT Hub turntable is $5,000.
