I don't yet know how it sounds, but Pro-Ject's new Phono Box DS+ MM/MC phono preamp is among the handiest little phono preamps. Via four pushbuttons you can adjust capacitive and resistive loading, four levels of gain and engage a subsonic filter, all from the front panel, while keeping track of your choices on the florescent screen.

The loading choices are limited to 10ohms, 100ohms, 1kohms and 47kohms, but for many that will suffice and considering that that it offers including up to 65dB of gain, the $499 cost strikes me as an amazing value. I hope it sounds good.
